How effective are the diet pill reviews?

Recently I was reading Terry Sandhu’s article on diet pills and their properties on ezinearticles. He pointed some instances where consumption of diet pills led to the death of some, as a result of the side effects.

This forced me to question myself, “Are diet pills murderous?” Initially I could not believe it as I have seen many people benefit form the weight loss programs, which included consumption of weight loss pills like Phenocal and Orovo. Then I read some more diet pill reviews and each one had different opinions about the same product. By now I had figured out that, the problem is not with the diet pills, but with the reviews – as they can be misleading.

So, how to check the effectiveness of the reviews? Well, its simple. Follow these 7 steps:

  1. Check whether the author/reviewer is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the related industry.

  2. How much experience does the SME has in this industry?

  3. Look out for the examples (if provided) by SME, and try to verify them.

  4. Never believe on stories like, In 1999 a 40 year old women died of hearth attack as she was consuming ‘x’ diet pill.

  5. Contact the SME personally to verify the facts mentioned in the review.

  6. Make sure that the SME is not targeting a single product, as this can be to play down the competitor.

  7. And most importantly, always consult your physician before taking any pills.
